In this classic evergreen programme you will be able to visit all the prime tourist destinations in the state of Tamil Nadu and Kerala. The highlights of the programme is colonial town of Chennai, temples, churches, beaches, world famous chettinadu cuisine, boat ride in the lap of nature, majestic view of tea plantation, spice plantation, backwater, stay in the houseboat that floats on the water, chinese fishing net and Kathakali dance show. The first half the tour will be in Tamil Nadu which is famous for exotic temple towns and heritage sites, the second half of the tour will be in God’s own country, Kerala which is known for its well preserved ecosystem and demographic versatility.

    DAY 1 : ARRIVE CHENNAI

    Upon arrival at Chennai airport you will be welcomed and transferred to your hotel.

    DAY 2 : CHENNAI/ MAHABALIPURAM (70 KM/02H00)

    Breakfast at hotel.

    Day start with visiting Fort St. George, the first bastion of British power in India & built in the year 1640 AD by the British East India Company. Within the Fort, visit St. Mary's Church, built in the year 1680 & oldest Protestant Church in the East. Fort Museum has 10 galleries & displays armoury, old uniforms and many other items. Visit Santhome Cathedral, built in 1504, is said to house the remains of St. Thomas the Apostle, who is believed to have visited Madras (Chennai) sometime during 52 AD.

    Drive to Mahabalipuram. Arrival and check in at hotel.

    DAY 3 : MAHABALIPURAM/ KANCHIPURAM/ MAHABALIPURAM (130 KM/03H00)

    Breakfast at hotel.

    Morning excursion to Kanchipuram, the city famous for its numerous temples and hand woven silk sarees. Visit of the temple of Ekambareshvara, with its mandapam - hall of a thousand pillars and Vaikuntha Perumal, built in the 8th century and dedicated to Lord Vishnu. A short stop at Kanchipuram also includes visit to silk weavers and see their work. Back to Mahabalipuram and visit the Shore Temple, one of the oldest temples of South India. Arjuna Penance, the world’s largest rock bas relief. See the Five Rathas, a series of five monolithic pyramidical structure named after the five Pandava brothers. Krishna Butter ball, huge piece of round stone astonishingly well balanced at a point.

    DAY 4 : MAHABALIPURAM / PONDICHERRY (100 KM/02H00)

    Breakfast at hotel.

    Continuation to Pondicherry, ancient French territory. Arrival in the city and visit museum & Sri Aurobindo Ashram, the serene world of distinct spiritual vibration & thus renowned as Sacred Land. Rickshaw ride to visit French colony. Free time to walk downs the street and promenade to have an idea about French architecture and local contact.

    DAY 5 : PONDICHERRY / TANJORE (175 KM/04H30)

    Breakfast at hotel.

    Proceed to Tanjore en route stop at Chidambnaram and visit Natraja Temple complex. Continue your drive to Gangaikondacholapuram. Later visits the Airavateswarar Temple in Darasuram, another UNESCO World Heritage site. Continue to Tanjore, visit the Brihadeshwara temple, the world’s first complete granite structure. Brihadeshwara temple is among the most prized possession of India and an outstanding example of the architectural heights reached during the Chola period.

    DAY 6 : TANJORE / TRICHY /CHETTINAD/ MADURAI (190 KM/05H00)

    Drive to Trichy and visit Ranganatha Swamy Temple, is a colorful temple located in the Srirangam island between Kollidam and Cauvery river. Then continue to Chettinad and visit CHETTINAD, the land of the Chettiars, descendants of a line of great 19th century merchants who built real little palaces for themselves. Visit the Athangudi tile factory, the Ayyanar Temple and some fine Chettiar Bungalows, each housing its own collection of antiques, furniture and art. Continue to Madurai. Arrival and check in at hotel.

    DAY 7 : MADURAI

    Breakfast at hotel.

    Proceed to visit Meenakshi Sundareshwar which was built around 1000 years ago & was substantially expanded between the years (1623-55 AD). A striking feature of the temple is the astonishing structure known as Ayiram kaalmandapam or the Hall of a thousand pillars in the outermost corridor. Visit the Triumalai Nayak Palace, known for its rectangular dance floor. Heritage walk in the animated market around the temple. In the evening witness the splendid aarti ceremony performed in the temple.

    DAY 8 : MADURAI / MUNNAR (155 KM/04H00)

    Drive to Munnar. It is marked with some remarkable views of the mountains, tea estates, and waterfalls. Arrive and Check-in at the hotel.

    DAY 9 : MUNNAR

    Breakfast at hotel.

    Visiting the world's highest tea estates spread like a green carpet over hundreds of kilometres, Lush green hills all around - a place to be seen to be believed, and Eravikulam National Park (Park is closed in the month of February & March), the best place to see the Nilgiri Tahr (rare species of mountain goat). Visit of the tea museum. Walk in the market of Munnar.

    DAY 10 : MUNNAR / PERIYAR (100 KM/03H00)

    Breakfast at hotel.

    Drive to Periyar (Thekkady). It is the most famous nature reserve in South India. In the afternoon enjoy boat ride at Lake Periyar (subject to availability of water level). Alternate go for Jungle walk (with naturalist). The park includes a 26 km² artificial lake, created by the British in 1895 to supply water to Madurai. It is home to bison, sambars, wild boars, monkeys, as well as a wide variety of majestic Asiatic wild elephants & distinctive Nilgiri Langur. In the evening walk in the spice market.

    DAY 11 : PERIYAR / ALLEPPEY (130 KM/04H00)

    Breakfast at Hotel.

    Drive to Alleppey and board on the houseboat. The houseboat sails down gently through backwater and narrow canals. You will see palm and coconut trees and small houses, villages, paddy fields, churches, etc. Enjoy the Sunset view. You will also get a chance to go out and walk along the water body or villages and meet local people and come back.

    Lunch and dinner will be served on board.

    DAY 12 : ALLEPPEY / COCHIN (60 KM/01H30)

    Breakfast on houseboat.

    Disembark at a boat jetty in Alleppey and drive to Cochin, a former Portuguese then Dutch trading post, the city is renowned for its bay and the spectacle of the large fishing nets deployed.

    Visit Cochin that includes visit Chinese fishing net, St. Francis' Church, Dutch Palace (Built by the Portuguese), Jew Town, the Jewish Synagogue (closed on Fridays and Saturdays) built in the year 1568, walk in the Fort Cochin area and spice market, where the air is filled with the pungent smell of spices.

    Enjoy Kathakali dance show in the evening.

    In time transfer to Cochin international airport to board the flight to your destination.
